Origin and diffusion

This variety is grown in the costal part and on islands of Middle Dalmatia, region of Croatia, and is the most widespread variety on the island of Korčula. The olive trees of this variety take up not more than 10% in the orchards of Croatia. It is the third most propagated variety at nurseries in Croatia.

Agronomic characterisation and commercial considerations

This variety has a high rooting ability. Its flowering period is early and the percentage of pistil abortion rate is medium. It is self-incompatible and the most successful pollinisers used to increase fruit set in this variety are “Drobnica”, “Levantinka” and “Oblica”.Its productivity is high and constant and the ripening is late. It has a medium oil content. The oil is of good quality, with medium oleic acid content and medium to high stability.It is highly susceptible variety to cold and olive knot disease but resistant to olive leaf spot and olive fly.
