This variety seems to originate from Penedés (Catalonia) although it is recently spreading throughout the country.

It is the most important variety in Croatia. It is spread over the entire olive growing area of ​​Croatia. The olive trees of this variety take up at least 60% in the orchards and it is currently the most propagated variety at nurseries in Croatia.

It is the most widespread variety of olive tree internationally. Its cultivation in Spain is concentrated in the provinces of Seville (60,000 ha), Badajoz (30,000 ha) and Huelva (4,000 ha). Outside Spain it is also grown in Portugal, the United States, Israel, Argentina and Australia.

One of the most important olive varieties cultivated in Egypt. The cultivated area of Aggezi in Fayoum Goverorate is about (80%), Ismailia about (40%) and in Nubariya about (30%).

The cultivated area is about 10% of the olive area in Nubaria, Fayoum and the cultivated area on the desert road to Alexandria.

It originated from Mannouba in the north of Tunisia (Trigui and Msallem, 2002) and cultivated mainly in the north and in the table olive irrigated areas throughout the country (Dridi, 2020). Meski covered about 60% of total areas (CCIS, 2013).

It is a Greek variety. It is cultivated mainly in Central Greece (Fthiotida, Fokida, Evia, Viotia, Aetoloakarnania), Magnesia, Larissa, and Epirus. Recently it has been expanded in Macedonia and other regions of Greece.

The origin of Oueslati is the gouvernorate of Kairouan in the centre of Tunisia and it is adopted in two main regions (Kairouan and Siliana) (Trigui and Msallem, 2002). While considered as secondary variety, it is now very required in many regions of Tunisia especially for its oil quality.
